Personal Profile

Yang Yongjia, the leading figure of the "Desert Painting School" in Chinese painting. Member of the China Artists Association, Senior Artistic Professional, and recipient of the State Council Government Allowance. Director of the China Desert Landscape Creation Research Institute. Mentor for the Specialized Advanced Training Class on Desert Landscapes at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. In 2002, CCTV produced a documentary titled "Dream Return to Alashan" about him in Alashan, Inner Mongolia, which was broadcast on CCTV-4 and CCTV-9. In November 2008, China News No. 0001 featured a special report titled "China News · Person of the News — Artist of the People's Republic of China Yang Yongjia." In 2010, he received the government award from the Ministry of Culture — the "Wenhua Award." In 2015, he won the Golden Prize at the Milan Expo. In 2018, he was invited as a special guest for an interview on CCTV’s high-end talk show “Influential Figures” under the “China Brand Influence” program. In 2019, CCTV Channel 10’s documentary series “Exploration and Discovery” featured an interview with Yang Yongjia on his paintings and the Poplar Spirit.
