Tang Shengji, style name Jiren; alias Qiusi Zi; pseudonym Jiegu Louzhu, Baxian Village Resident. Native of Shimen County, Hunan Province, ethnic Tujia. Born on August 1, 1963, in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province. Graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Northeast Normal University in 1986. Currently a member of the China Calligraphers Association, the Central State Organs Calligraphers Association, the Beijing Calligraphers Association, a National First-Class Fine Arts Professional (Calligraphy), a National Senior Calligraphy Professional, a National Advanced Calligraphy Professional, a Council Member of the China Art and Culture Promotion Association, a Council Member of the China Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Society, a Committee Member of the New Artistic Group Calligraphy and Painting Work Committee of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, a Senior Researcher (Calligraphy) at the China International Modern Art Research Center, a member of the Ink and Brush Painting Academy of China Education Television, a signed calligraphy artist of China Calligraphy and Painting Network TV, an art consultant of Qufu Hongru Calligraphy and Painting Academy in Shandong Province, a member of the Calligraphy Art Research Committee of the China Couplets Association, and a professional practice tutor at the College of Literature, Northeast Normal University.
His works and biographical entries have been included in dozens of anthologies (dictionaries). He has participated in over 180 national large-scale exhibitions and competitions, winning awards, being selected for exhibitions, or included in anthologies. His calligraphy works and papers on calligraphy education have been published in various professional journals such as "Friend of Calligraphy," "China Art and Painting Daily," "China Ballpoint Pen Calligraphy," "China Education Daily," "China Calligraphy Education," "China Hard Pen Calligraphy," and "Beijing Evening News." Since 2011, his works have been repeatedly broadcasted on the Central Digital TV Calligraphy Channel; since 2013, his works have been repeatedly selected by China Post, China Philatelic Network, and the United States Philatelic Group for publication in philatelic albums, stamps, postcards, first-day covers, and phone recharge card covers. In more than thirty years of calligraphy education practice, over one hundred students have won awards, been selected for exhibitions, or included in anthologies in municipal and nationwide calligraphy competitions. He himself has been awarded honors such as “Outstanding Gardener Award,” “Excellent Tutor,” and “Outstanding Organization Award” by multiple organizing committees.
He has devoted over forty years to studying calligraphy as a hobby. Drawing rich nourishment from Han Dynasty clerical script, he has also studied Jin and Tang dynasties, learned from Ming and Qing masters, and gained profound insights into life. I will forever quietly cultivate this vast artistic field.
