Wang Duo, style name Mengxiu, Beijing native, alias Yanzhu Caotang and Qiyuan;
Graduated from Beijing Technology and Business University.
Currently a calligrapher;
Cultural scholar;
Chief Editor of Chinese Calligraphy Road Network;
Artistic Director of Qiyuan Cultural Arts;
Member of the Committee for National Learning Inheritance, China Association for Eastern Culture Research;
Research Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Education;
Wang Duo’s calligraphy, rooted in the “Two Wangs” (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), incorporates Northern Stele brush techniques, resulting in an ancient and heavy style, refined and elegant, both graceful and bold. His clerical script draws from the Zhang Qian Stele and the Li Qi Stele, with a solemn, robust, and grand style, characterized by vigorous and meticulous strokes. His works draw from tradition without being bound by it, embracing diverse influences.His calligraphy has been featured in major domestic and international publications and exhibited in numerous series. In 2016, his works were published in Japan’s authoritative calligraphy magazine “Japanese Calligraphy” and Singapore’s cultural magazine “Chinese Culture.” His works and biography have been included in “Selected Works of Contemporary Chinese Painters and Calligraphers,” “Biographical Directory of World Chinese Artists,” and “Selected Ink Works of Chinese Calligraphers and Couplets.” Published works include “Selected Works of Wang Duo’s Calligraphy” and “Inheriting Classics • Selected Ink Works of Wang Duo.” His calligraphy works have been collected by international friends from Japan, South Korea, the United States, Canada, and other countries.
