Calligraphy Style

Wei Fengshan has been passionate about calligraphy since childhood. Later, he became a disciple of Wang Youshi and studied seal script and clerical script under his master for eight years, becoming the master’s most accomplished student. Wang Youshi was himself a disciple of Ouyang Zhongshi, one of the founders of the China Calligraphers Association. Wei Fengshan is proficient in seal script, clerical script, cursive script, and bird-worm seal script, achieving the highest accomplishments in seal script. His seal and clerical script works integrate the essences of masters from all dynasties. His seal script style follows natural laws, with vigorous strokes and flying white techniques reaching an almost transcendent level. His works exhibit elegance, simplicity, and vitality, distinctly different from the dense, robust styles of earlier generations.
