Personal Profile

Guan Shiqin, pen name Guan Yao, courtesy name Jinhou, male, Han ethnicity. Born in 1956 in Lixin County, Anhui Province, with a college education and a member of the Communist Party of China. Currently a renowned contemporary Chinese calligrapher, member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, member of the Chinese Calligraphy Masters Association, member of the Chinese Literati Calligraphers Association, academician of the Beijing Liuyi Jiayun Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute, member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Art Center, member of the China-New Zealand Cultural and Art Promotion Association, Vice President and Guest Professor of the International Masters Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and member of the Fuyang Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Research Association. Began working in 1976, served as an enterprise executive, and retired in 2012. Throughout his life, he has remained indifferent to fame and fortune; since childhood, he has loved reading and practicing calligraphy, diligently studying calligraphic creation and absorbing the artistic essence of predecessors. His works have won the Outstanding Work First Prize five times, Gold Awards 54 times, Silver Awards 18 times, and Bronze Awards 10 times in national calligraphy and painting competitions. His works have been included in the publication "Classics of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters," distributed both domestically and overseas, and also included in "The Great Dictionary of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting" for collection. He has been conferred honorary titles such as "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exchange Ambassador," "International Calligraphy and Painting Celebrity," "Patriotic and Well-Known Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artist," "People's Meritorious Calligrapher and Painter," "Hundred Masters Painting Saint Award Artist," "Contemporary Renowned Calligraphy Artist," "Eastern Red, Inheritor of Mao Zedong Thought Artist," "Chinese Red Calligrapher and Painter," "Artist with Both Moral Integrity and Artistic Excellence in China," and "Chinese Dream Outstanding Artist" by the Sino-Foreign Calligraphy and Painting Art Friendship Association and calligraphy and painting cultural associations in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other regions.
His works have repeatedly received unanimous praise from industry professionals, demonstrating profound artistic foundation, with graceful and refreshing vigor in styles of running script, cursive script, regular script, clerical script, and seal script.
