Personal Profile
Xu Xiaoli: from Luan County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, member of the Anhui Artists Association, member of the Anhui Calligraphy and Painting Research Society, board member of the "Painting Saint" Wu Daozi, special invited painter of the "China Art and Calligraphy News", board member of the Beijing Shijie Jinse Jiayuan Cultural Arts Center. She once studied at the Huangshan Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and is skilled in meticulous brushwork flowers and birds, under the guidance of painters Zheng Ruoquan and Chen Yongjun.         Xu Xiaoli has loved painting and calligraphy since childhood, steadily stepping forward one step at a time. She particularly loves painting lotus flowers, imagining herself in a poetic and ethereal world of lotus blossoms. Her meticulous lotus paintings are detailed and realistic, passionate yet not frivolous, noble yet not detached. The vocabulary on the canvas always shines with beautiful and unique emotions, elegant and distant, like poetry and dreams. The combination of meticulous techniques and emotions is just right, and by using texture to express the tactile qualities of objects, the brushstrokes become more subtle and soft, more naturally realistic. Watching her paintings allows one to fully experience the true and beautiful integration of the soul with nature, the endless fragrance cleansing the heart and mind, making one feel refreshed and invigorated.       Art originates from life and transcends it. Xu Xiaoli captures the characteristics and fleeting dynamics of lotus flowers over a long period, then elevates them with her own aesthetic sense and artistic taste. Her works possess the liveliness of form and the fluidity of beauty. Her lotus paintings have varying emotional nuances, profound meanings, vibrant vitality, and allow people to experience aesthetic pleasure in the clarity and purity.       The theme of her lotus paintings depicting rain-soaked autumn lotus is refined, fragrant, and full of meaning. There is no sound of autumn wind or rain, nor the sight of withered lotus leaves. Using different aesthetic sensibilities to portray the same theme, she creates different artistic images. For example, series such as "Home," "Autumn Beauty," "Autumn Melody," "Elegant Birds by the Stream," "Drunk in Spring Moon," "Lotus Pond under Moonlight," "Lotus Melody," "Lotus Glows in the Blue Pool," "Calm and Clear," "Lotus Swallow," "Lotus Pond in Summer," etc., are like the beauty of Xi Guang emerging from washing, Li Hua's morning makeup, smiling and graceful, expressing the hope for a beautiful life. In her work "Lotus Swallow," the rhizome is thick and jointed, growing horizontally in the mud at the bottom of the water. The leaves are large and gray-green, with pink and white flowers blooming in succession. Two swallows complement each other, one still and one moving, the swaying lotus bathed in the gentle breeze, vividly and meticulously depicting the natural charm of the lotus pond. Using peonies, camellias, plum trees, bamboo, and chrysanthemums to symbolize the character of lotus, and using sparrows, cranes, and mandarin ducks to echo and reflect, expressing admiration for the pure and noble form of the lotus, which is a major feature of Xu Xiaoli's lotus-themed works.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Painting lotus is painting oneself, painting the freshness and elegance of lotus flowers,  which also paints one's own elegant temperament; painting the clear roundness of lotus flowers on the water surface, which also paints one's quiet and refined state; painting the charming fragrance of lotus flowers, which also paints a woman's beautiful life.                But with infinite meaning in the heart, not allowing sorrow to arise in the blue waves.
