Zhao Ling

● Zhao Ling. Male, born in 1974 in Anhui, the hometown of Zhuangzi. His courtesy name is Sanfeng; his pseudonyms are Zui Mo Xiansheng, Banpo Cao Ren, Yunmo Xuanzhu, and Dugu Moke. He is currently a disciple of Mr. Wang Weijun. From a young age, he has been passionate about calligraphy. During his military service, he self-taught the basics of calligraphy and Jiangniao calligraphy, and received guidance from many senior military calligraphers. He collected all the magazines and books he could find, and used the Modern Chinese Dictionary to record each character, read each sentence, and understand each article; at the same time, he seized every opportunity such as bulletin boards, propaganda paintings, and wax seal carvings to practice writing and study. To date, apart from those who specialize in this field, it is estimated that few people know and understand the traditional Chinese characters as thoroughly and extensively as him. Over the years, thousands of days and nights, he has never relaxed for a moment in his efforts to make up for the lack of knowledge and in the pursuit and exploration of the art of calligraphy. Although the path was bumpy and even arduous, he never changed his original intention and found joy in it. Suddenly, his active duty period ended, and he returned home after leaving the army. When he came back home, except for the necessary equipment, he had no luggage, but he carried back a bag full of books he had once read and studied. He enrolled in the calligraphy art program at Wuxi "China's First Calligraphy Training College" for both correspondence and face-to-face classes, and was fortunate to be personally taught by his first mentor Chen Ling tuo and corrected by Teacher Zhao Puchu. He has broadened his understanding of different styles of calligraphy and learned from various masters. After decades of accumulation, exploration, and learning, he is now especially skilled in cursive and running scripts, with a strong flavor of Zhangcao and sufficient style of the Two Wangs, being free-spirited and unique in style. In recent years, his works have been collected by many professionals in various industries, with many pieces permanently collected by individuals in Japan and the United Kingdom. In July 2012, he was invited to Osaka, Japan, to hold an individual masterpiece exhibition. Later, he exchanged and learned from several good mentors and friends, including Zhou Jianming, Ou Xinzhong, Pan Huijun, Xie Daoyou, Qin Jian, and Chen Hong, continuously improving himself. His works have won awards, including the Excellent Award in the "Celebrating the Return of Hong Kong" Calligraphy and Painting Competition; the Silver Award in the National Calligraphy and Painting Competition Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Long March, included in the "Treasure Collection of Contemporary Chinese Painters and Calligraphers", and awarded the honor title of "Calligrapher with Both Virtue and Talent"; the Silver Award in the Second "Ouyang Xun Award" National Calligraphy Competition, included in the "Selected Works of Contemporary Famous Calligraphers in China", and awarded the honor title of "Calligrapher with Both Moral Integrity and Artistic Excellence"; the Bronze Award in the "Chinese Dream · Belt and Road" Hundred Calligraphers and Painters Competition, and many other awards.
