Zhang Wenchang, male, native of Mengcheng County, Anhui Province, born in 1954, with a high school education, member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
He has been passionate about painting and calligraphy since childhood, was a disciple of the famous calligrapher Wang Xueling, and was personally taught by Zhuang Chuanlin. He has cooperated with renowned painters of lotus art such as Lu Manyun, famous calligraphers and sculptors such as Wang Zongchi, and accomplished painter Wang Baoxiang to create classic works. He has participated in many domestic calligraphy and painting exhibitions and achieved very excellent results. His works have been collected by many notable figures and officials.
Teacher Zhang Wenchang graduated from the China Academy of Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University. He is currently a researcher at the Harmonious China Calligraphy and Painting Institute, a member of the Calligraphy and Painting Association, director of the Cultural Exchange Art Committee, and an academician of the Hangzhou Calligraphy and Painting Academy of Zhuangzi, among other positions.
Teacher Zhang Wenchang, since childhood, has practiced copying ancient steles, taking the Two Wangs as his model, starting with Yan and Liu, deeply studying the Zhang Qian Stele, and also made efforts on Zhang Xu's "Four Poems" and Huaisu's "Self-Portrait Scroll". His calligraphy is solid and profound, combining classical and modern styles. Through his research on the techniques of Li Ke Ran and Zhang Daqian, he has developed a unique artistic realm and style. Influenced by famous painters such as Lu Manyun and Wang Baoxiang, he has deep insights and achievements in the creation of calligraphy and painting. He is skilled in freehand brushwork, meticulous brushwork, landscape, flowers, and birds. Teacher Zhang Wenchang's calligraphy mainly focuses on regular script, running script, and cursive script. His works are distinctive, powerful, elegant, and have a rugged and graceful character. He has truly reached a level where personal cultivation, artistic integrity, and traditional culture are highly integrated, thus receiving praise from many experts and scholars.
Teacher Zhang Wenchang's calligraphy has strong brushwork, rich ink texture, simple structure, and well-balanced layout. The movement of the brush conveys a sense of spirit and momentum, and the quiet and elegant flavor. It integrates brushwork, ink technique, character formation, and composition.
