Ma Ziyan, style name "Banshan", the head of Yiyi Hall, was born in Bozhou City, Anhui Province, and is a native of Qiaocheng. It is the hometown of Hua Tuo and a place known for its medicinal herbs. He has been following family teachings since childhood, inheriting traditional Chinese medicine and calligraphy culture. His calligraphy goes back to the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and reaches up to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. He is skilled in five scripts. Since childhood, he has practiced calligraphy continuously for decades, deeply studying classic steles such as Wang Xizhi's "Seventeen Posts", Sun Guoting's "Shupu", and Lu Zong's "Jici Wen Gao". He finally excels in cursive script. He once studied at the Advanced Research Class of Renmin University and received guidance from many famous teachers. His calligraphy demonstrates strength without being rigid, grace without being exaggerated, with a flowing and smooth brushwork, vigorous and unrestrained, rich and anciently simple. It is deeply loved by people at home and abroad. He has participated in many national, provincial and municipal calligraphy association-organized exhibitions of fine works. His works have won awards multiple times and have been published in "Calligraphy News", "People's Art Newspaper" and "Calligraphy Guidance". Currently: Member of the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association; Standing Director of the China Youth Calligraphers Association;  Registered Senior Calligraphy Teacher of the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association;Art Training Instructor of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Level Evaluation.
