Hu Yang, known by his art name "Ink Wild Man." Born in October 1952 in Hubei Huangzhou. University graduate and veteran of foreign aid service. Senior Registered Teacher of the Calligraphers Association of China, member of the China Society of Painters and Calligraphers, member of the Wuhan Artists Association, and National Level One Photographer (Associate Senior). Photography correspondent for Hong Kong's "China Imaging" Magazine, Deputy Director of the Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee of the China Society of Popular Culture, and a leading figure in contemporary Chinese calligraphy and painting. Vice President of the Hubei Huanggang Chamber of Commerce in Hainan, Deputy Director of the Hainan Jingchu Culture Committee. Passionate about literature and art since childhood, began studying traditional Chinese painting in 1972. After joining the military, he devoted himself to copying ancient calligraphy models. For four decades, he has persistently studied classical works of contemporary calligraphers, taking both ancient and modern masters as his teachers. To strengthen his calligraphic skills, he studied under renowned military calligrapher General Wang Xianghua of the Armed Police Force and celebrated Chinese realist painter Mr. Chang Binghua. His recent works have received high praise from Chinese calligraphy and painting masters in Beijing: "Hu Yang's calligraphy deeply embodies ancient spirit, drawing nourishment from numerous renowned calligraphic models and transforming them into his own style. His characters are exquisitely refined and concise, with a powerful momentum; his structure seeks variation within stability, freely employing characters, revealing innovation within solemnity and appreciating classical charm through transformation. One feels that he creates novelty within the bounds of tradition and conveys profound aesthetics beyond boldness." In autumn 2017, his work "Mi Fu's Letter on New Year's Day" and ink painting "Autumn Rhythm" were exhibited at the National Library of China and the New York Gallery in the United States, respectively. In early January 2018, his calligraphy scroll "Ode to the Sources of Rivers and Lakes," over 3,000 characters long, was permanently collected by the National Rural Museum. In June 2018, more than twenty of his ink paintings were published and issued by the China Post, and he was awarded a "National Stamp" honorary certificate by China International Philately Network, with his works included in the national large-scale documentary collectible stamp album.
