Zhang Xiantian, male, born in November 1958, a member of the Communist Party of China, with a college diploma, is a senior Chinese language teacher at Lunshanhe Town Guozihé Primary School in Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province.Over his 40 years of teaching, not a single student under his care has dropped out of school. He has used his meager salary to pay tuition fees for students, accumulating over 100,000 RMB, and has supported more than 380 impoverished students and children with disabilities facing the risk of dropping out, among whom more than 250 have entered institutions of higher education.
In 2008, Zhang Xiantian began implementing the "Red Candle Plan" online助学 under his personal name; in 2017, he founded "LeShan Assistance — Hubei Tuanfeng Station." Inspired by his spirit, countless kind-hearted individuals have joined the "Red Candle Plan" and "LeShan Assistance," benefiting hundreds of students from impoverished families, with recipients spanning the entire country. As a result, countless online benefactors who have never met him in person have respectfully called him "Online Dad" and "Huanggang Tianba." Under his devoted support, the orphan Zhang Heng was admitted to Hubei Normal University; Chen Wei, from an extremely impoverished family, was able to complete primary through university education thanks to his assistance. Shu Binbin, a university student whose parents divorced early and who suffers from granulocytic leukemia, has been supported by Zhang Xiantian since 2003. In spring 2008, when Shu Binbin's condition relapsed, Zhang tirelessly approached various media outlets and government departments to raise funds for his treatment. Fortunately, Shu Binbin recovered and returned to university; today, he has become a well-known ophthalmologist.
In 2006, during the 10th anniversary of Huanggang's establishment as a city, Zhang Xiantian was elected as one of the first "Ten People Who Moved Huanggang"; in 2007, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Individual in the 'Three Educations' Initiative" in Hubei Province; in August 2011, he was honored as a "Pioneer of Huanggang Education in the New Era"; the same year, on Teachers' Day, he was selected as one of the "Top Ten Moral Role Models in Hubei Province" and awarded the "Hubei May Day Labor Medal"; on Teachers' Day in 2013, Zhang Xiantian was jointly commended by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education as a "National Model of Teacher Ethics"; in 2018, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Communist Party Member of Huanggang City"; in 2019, he was named a "Huanggang Role Model."
Zhang Xiantian is hailed by the public as the "King of Children in the Mountains"; revered by adolescents as the "Online Love Dad"; and described by media at all levels as the "Red Candle of Qishan" in the new era!
