Lu Xiaoqi, known as "Drunk Ink Commoner," is a renowned painter and calligrapher and a first-class artist, born in 1950 in Wuhan. He once worked at China No.1 Metallurgical Construction Company, Third Branch. After going into business in 1986, he established a paint-baking factory. Due to his deep passion for painting and calligraphy, in 2011, Lu Xiaoqi received guidance from Wu Daoshun, a lecturer at China Academy of Fine Arts, Liao Shijie, a council member of the Hubei Calligraphy and Painting Association, Chen Ansong, and Chen Xuequan, a member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Association, after which his skills in running script, regular script, cursive script, and painting significantly improved. Under the meticulous guidance of these four masters, Lu Xiaoqi thoroughly absorbed their essence. In addition to wild cursive script, he can also paint on ink wash, wood, bark, burnt flowers, and silk fabric.
His award-winning works: "Strait Across the Two Shores" (awarded an Excellent Prize at the 2015 Cross-Strait Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition), "Integrity Wins the World" (awarded at the 2016 Jiangnan First Family Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition);
Lu Xiaoqi's life motto: Brush, ink, paper, and inkstone embrace the four seas; in the醉far mountain village, there are kindred spirits.
Lu Xiaoqi currently serves as: Standing Director of the China Youth Calligraphers and Painters Association; Council Member of the Hubei Shouyi Calligraphy and Painting Association; Special Appointed Academician of the Hantang Calligraphy and Painting Academy; Special Appointed Academician of the Jiangnan First Family Art Academy.
