Wang Jiankang, from Huangshi City, Hubei Province, is a World Culture Ambassador, renowned Chinese sugar painting artist, and writer. A graduate of Central China Normal University, he is a National First-Class Artist and recipient of the "Great Contribution to World Cultural Exchange Award" and the "World Culture Ambassador" medal. He currently serves as Vice President of the China Century Grand Interview Calligraphy and Painting Academy of China Central Television, Chairman of the Council of the Confucius · Qufu Hongru Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Beijing Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Academy Academician, Key Recommended Artist by China Education Television's Ink and Wash Art Program, the sole sugar painting talent listed in the Ministry of Culture's Artistic Talent Database, and a key artist featured in the State Council Information Office · China Internet News Center’s Special Report on the Two Sessions; selected as one of the top 100 artists in China's largest online art exhibition, one of the ten main characters chosen for CCTV’s large-scale television series "Great Masters of the Nation" (unfortunately did not proceed with filming due to unforeseen circumstances), and the founding master of the new generation of Chinese sugar painting.
Wang Jiankang has pioneered a novel, multi-style, multi-subject painting technique that has earned his works the title of "National Cultural Treasure." His sugar paintings break through traditional boundaries, elevating the fusion of sugar and art to unprecedented heights—combining the crystal-clear translucence of sugar with the lifelike vibrancy of painting. By integrating three traditional single techniques—dragging, scraping, and pulling—he has created an exquisitely detailed new series of sugar paintings, winning six gold medals and one silver medal at national fine arts competitions. He has been honored by nationwide WeChat users and cultural authorities with prestigious titles including "Meritorious Artist," "China's Heritage Art Master," "Artist of Virtue and Talent," "National Gift Artist," "China's Most Investment and Collection Valuable Contemporary Artist," "Chinese New Era Role Model," "Practitioner of Chinese Cultural Revival," and "Grand Master of Chinese Art."
