      Mao Guiyun, male, courtesy name Zeyun, holds a college diploma and is a National First-Class Art Master, born in July 1944 in Shaoshan, Hunan. He enlisted in December 1963 and successively served as a soldier, squad leader, cadre, deputy director, and political commissar of a regiment, holding the rank of senior colonel. He retired from military service in 1990. He has been passionate about calligraphy since his youth and later developed a love for traditional Chinese painting after retirement. He is currently a member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association, a member of the Hubei Wuhan Calligraphers Association, a member of the Wuhan Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Research Society, and a council member of the Chutian Calligraphy and Painting Academy. He graduated from the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University with a specialization in calligraphy. His calligraphy works have participated in numerous national and provincial-level calligraphy competitions, winning three gold awards, two third prizes, and multiple excellence awards. His works have been included in the following collections: "Collection of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Works by Retired Cadres Nationwide"; "Biographical Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artists"; and he has been awarded the title of "Top 500 Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art Masters"; "The Second Guanyin Mountain Cup National Calligraphy Art Exhibition"; "The Second and Fifth Calligraphy Exhibitions of Writing Wuhan"; "Collection of Works for the Exhibition Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China and Welcoming the 7th World Military Games," among more than ten other collections. He has authored two long scrolls: "Thirty-Seven Poems by Mao Zedong in 70-Meter Cursive Script Calligraphy" and "Calligraphy of Mao Zedong’s Poems" in a 20-meter scroll. He has published "Collection of Calligraphy and Painting by Mao Guiyun." In November 2019, he was officially listed on the Encyclopedia of Calligraphers and Painters.
