Yet he persistently pursued calligraphy and painting art, practicing diligently in spare time and sketching with fingers when busy, persevering through cold and heat without pause. Starting with clerical and Ouyang-style scripts, he gradually mastered formal standards. His works have participated in numerous competitions and exhibitions at regional, municipal, prefectural, provincial, and national levels, winning awards repeatedly, and are collected abroad.
Li Jianhua says that calligraphy brings him profound joy. For an enthusiast, practicing it freely is no different from a carefree journey. Though now in his sixties, his passion and enthusiasm for calligraphy continue to grow stronger. He believes that true achievement in calligraphy requires freedom from desires for fame, status, or profit—finding self-entertainment, cultivating mind and character, and continuing to press forward energetically is more than enough.
