Liu Houhong

    Liu Houhong, male, Grade One Calligrapher, member of the China International Calligraphy and Painting Art Institute, was born in June 1964 in Ji'an, Jiangxi Province (historically known as Luling). Since childhood, he has admired cultured elders; after starting school, he particularly admired teachers and classmates who could write and paint beautifully. He began practicing brush calligraphy in junior high school, and since then has written Spring Festival couplets every year. Even after starting work, he continued writing Spring Festival couplets for colleagues. Until he settled in Guilin (famous for its stunning scenery) in 1995, he still insisted on writing his own couplets. He is now a professional antique dealer and enjoys writing brush calligraphy in his spare time.
In 2018, my calligraphy work won the "Excellent Award" at the 9th National Online Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
In 2019, at the "Spring Festival Cup" National Fine Calligraphy and Painting Competition, I won the Silver Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2019, at the "Yingcai Cup" National Exhibition of 100 Renowned Artists, I won the Silver Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2019, at the First "Pusonglin Cup" National Fine Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Carving Competition, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, I won the Second Prize in the Calligraphy Category and was honored with the title of "Meritorious Artist Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the Nation."
In 2019, at the National Calligraphy and Painting Competition "Ode to the Motherland," commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China, I won the Gold Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2019, at the "Dongpo Cup" National Small-Scale Calligraphy and Painting Competition, I won the Excellent Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2019, at the First National Exhibition of Contemporary Masterpieces in Calligraphy and Painting, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China, I won the Third Prize in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2020, at the "Great Chinese Love" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, celebrating unity against the epidemic, I won the Gold Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2020, at the 9th National Folk Fine Calligraphy and Painting Competition, I won the Excellent Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2020, at the First "New Era of China" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, I won the Silver Award in the Calligraphy Category and was honored with the title of "Artistic Role Model of 2020."
In 2020, at the 4th "Zhonghua Cup" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, I won the Special Gold Award in the Calligraphy Category.
In 2020, at the First "Shenghai Cup" National Fine Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Carving Competition, I won the First Prize in the Calligraphy Category.
Mr. Liu will continue to strive to promote and carry forward the traditional Chinese cultural arts.
