An Jinghao

An Jinghao, from Luoyang, Henan Province, is a National First-Class Artist, a council member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, President of the Henan Qigong-style Calligraphy Research Institute, and the founder of Shuiying Calligraphy. From 1992 to 1996, he studied under Master Qigong. He has extensively absorbed the strengths of various schools while passionately dedicating himself to the development of Qigong-style calligraphy. Through relentless research and practice, he has developed a unique personal style that has received high praise from collectors of calligraphy and painting both domestically and internationally. He is regarded as a representative figure of contemporary Qigong-style calligraphy.

Major Achievements:

His works have won awards in numerous national competitions and have been exhibited more than 30 times in major cities including Guilin, Zigong, Yiwu, Xi’an, Fuyang, and Kunming. His Shuiying calligraphy is original and innovative, adding a brilliant stroke to Chinese calligraphy and presenting Chinese characters in a striking new form to the world, earning high acclaim from professionals. The market valuation of his works is RMB 5,000 per square foot. He has published personal collections: “Collection of An Jinghao’s Calligraphy Works” and “Three in One — Calligraphy Collection of An Jinghao.” Numerous academic papers have been published in media outlets such as “Chinese Calligraphy,” “Calligraphy Guide,” “Zhongyuan Calligraphy and Painting News,” “Chinese Buddhism Magazine,” and “Nanguo Magazine.”

In 2009, China Central Digital Television’s Calligraphy and Painting Channel produced a documentary featuring his artistic achievements. His works are collected by authoritative institutions including the China Museum of Chinese Characters and the Henan Provincial Museum. His four-character monumental inscription “Chun Hua Qiu Shi” was sold for RMB 180,000 at the Spring Auction of Shanghai Jiaxi Auction Co., Ltd. in 2020.
