Liu Yangping, pen name: Hai Bing, also known as Gujin, and styled Bujī Weng, Changle Shanren, and Yinxuezhai Master. Poet and renowned calligrapher. Born in Guizhou in 1966, graduated from the Department of International Politics, Peking University, in 1991 with a major in Political Science. Member of the Guizhou Society of Poetry and Couplets, Lifetime Member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee, and Member of the Guizhou Calligraphers Association. Author of "Poetic Style and Calligraphic Shadows," and Editorial Board Member of "The Chinese Poetry Canon."
Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about poetry and calligraphy, favoring classical-style poetry. His poems exude grandeur and complement his calligraphy beautifully; most of his calligraphic works feature poems he himself composed. Numerous poems have been included in major anthologies such as "Selected Works of Contemporary Chinese Poets and Calligraphers," "The Century Poetry Encyclopedia (Volume Five)," and "The Chinese Poetry Canon." He began his calligraphy studies with the stele inscriptions of Zhao Mengfu, then expanded to the styles of Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, later exploring the works of Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Su Dongpo, Huang Tingjian, Mi Fu, Huaisu, Wang Duo, Wu Changshuo, Wu Rangzhi, and Li Si. He has profoundly mastered the essence of Zhao's style and excels in running script and cursive script. His calligraphy works have won awards in numerous provincial and national competitions and have been featured in major art collections including "The Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Canon," "Comprehensive Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting," and "Selected Works of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art." He has been covered by media outlets such as People's Daily Online, Guizhou Television, Ducai Guizhou Website, Guizhou Daily, The Construction Bank Newspaper, Guiyang Evening News, and Guiyang Television.
