Personal Profile

Cui Yanlin, male, Han ethnicity, was born in 1937 in Qilihe District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. He spent his youth working in Beijing and is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.

Cui Yanlin is of noble character and exceptionally diligent. Since retirement, he has developed a deep passion for calligraphy, excelling in regular, running, cursive, and seal scripts. His oracle bone script works, in particular, are highly cherished by the public.

Cui Yanlin’s calligraphy is refined and elegant, steady and mature, strictly disciplined yet vivid in expression. In his enthusiastic writing, a gentle and scholarly aura often emerges; though he achieved prominence later in life, his style has grown increasingly stable and profound.

His greatest accomplishments lie in running script, cursive script, and regular script; if examined in finer detail, his running script is the most innovative.

Even more remarkable are his oracle bone script works. To preserve and develop oracle bone culture, he has tirelessly devoted himself to studying and creating oracle bone script pieces.
