Wang Fuxue, styled Dongyun, and known as “Man of Taihang Mountains.” Male, born in 1950, graduated from Xinxiang Regional Normal College, and completed correspondence studies at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (Chinese Painting major) in 1989. Passionate about calligraphy and painting since childhood, he studied under the nationally renowned peony painter He Zhiyi in 1965; in the mid-1980s, he further studied under the nationally acclaimed senior calligrapher and painter Mr. Li Zhonglian. His calligraphy won first prize in the national Dragon Year Calligraphy Competition in the late 1980s; he also received awards in competitions commemorating the 110th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s birth, the 70th anniversary of the Long March victory, the "Huaxia Cup," "Magnificent China," and the overseas and domestic calligraphy and painting competition commemorating the 140th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen’s birth, earning silver and gold medals. His paintings have won gold medals in competitions commemorating the 50th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s poem “Butterfly Lovers: Reply to Li Shuyi,” the overseas and domestic calligraphy and painting competition honoring Qi Baishi, a giant of the art world, and the “Today’s Ink and Brush” invitational competition. His calligraphy and painting works have been repeatedly included in publications and collected.
Formerly served as a researcher at the Hong Kong Oriental Culture Department, visiting professor at Henan Wu Daozi Calligraphy and Painting Academy, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Art Committee. Currently serves as Academician of Yixun Zhonghua Loving Calligraphy and Painting Academy and President of “Shangmingtang Calligraphy and Painting Academy” in Foshan City, Guangdong Province.
Currently: Member of the Ink and Brush Painting Academy under “Ink and Brush” Program Group, China Education Television; and contracted artist of “Master’s Lecture Hall” under “Ink and Brush” Program Group, China Education Television.
