Xu Wenbin, a National First-Class Artist, and senior member of the China International Research Center for Modern Art.
Born in 1941 in Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province.
In 1970, served as a fine arts instructor at a cultural center.
From 1978 to 1994, participated in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Heilongjiang Provincial Fine Arts Exhibitions.
In 1984, held a personal exhibition of fine art works hosted by the former Songhua River Regional Cultural Bureau, displaying over 100 artworks. Since 1989, Xu Wenbin's name has been included in 25 reference books, including the "Dictionary of Chinese Workers Who Achieved Success Through Self-Study."
From 1984 to 1996, won first prize five times and special prize twice in fine arts exhibitions hosted by the former Songhua River Regional Administrative Office. In August 1990, held a personal landscape painting exhibition at the Heilongjiang Art Museum. In March 1991, entered the Beijing Academy of Painting for a two-year advanced study, apprenticing under the renowned painter Wang Wenfang. In July 1992, held a personal landscape painting exhibition at the China National Academy of Painting in Beijing, exhibiting 100 works. In 1992, listed in the "Directory of Contemporary Chinese Artists." In 1993, Xu Wenbin was specially invited with Yu Zhixue to participate in the national fine arts exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Chairman Mao's birth. In 1994, his work "Cosmic Chaos" won the gold award at the Heilongjiang Provincial Art Gallery's Exhibition of Fine Arts, Calligraphy, and Photography. In 1997, his work "Moonlight Over Changbai Mountains" was selected for the 3rd Contemporary China Landscape Painting Exhibition (included in the published collection). In 1998, included in the "Great Dictionary of Modern Chinese Artists." In 1998, his work "Snow Sea" won a silver award at the Harbin Ice and Snow Painting Exhibition. In 1998, "Warm Winter" and "Spring Dream" were exhibited in the Beijing Academy of Painting Master Painter (Professor) Wang Wenfang's Teacher-Student Exhibition at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. In 2002, during the 3rd China Calligraphy and Painting Masters Competition, his ink painting "First Snow" and calligraphy both won the Excellence Award and were compiled into the "Compendium of Masterpieces by Contemporary Chinese Calligraphers and Painters." In 2003, won a silver award in the "Exhibition of Outstanding Minor Works by Chinese Literati Artists" and the work was permanently collected by the organizing committee. On September 3, 2014, his work "Scenery of the Northern Forest Region" participated in the Singapore Hwa Yi International Auction Company’s auction event dedicated to modern and contemporary Chinese masters from Nanyang collectors. In 2014, his work "Bright Moon Shines Over Rivers and Mountains" was included in the book "Chinese Dream, Ode to Danqing." In July 2016, nine works—"Autumn Colors of the Lijiang River," "Drizzling Evening Rain," "High Mountains," "Melting Ice and Snow," "Cosmic Chaos," "Flying Spring at Jingpo Lake," "First Month in the North," "By the Jingpo Lake," and "The Fifteenth Day of the First Lunar Month"—were included in the book "Great Artists of China." In July 2016, nine artworks were officially published in the book "Great Artists of China." In July 2016, eighteen artworks were officially included in the thematic commemorative stamp album "China Postage Stamp Album Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China." In September 2016, eight artworks were included in the "Outstanding Chinese-American Artists Commemorative Stamps" collection, hailed as national treasure-level collectible philatelic items with great收藏 value. In October 2016, twenty-four artworks participated in the "Chinese National Art Exchange" selection event hosted by the China International Research Center for Modern Art, winning the "Outstanding Achievement Award in Calligraphy and Painting Creation." In March 2017, eight artworks were included in the commemorative collector's album "Outstanding Chinese-American Artists Commemorative Stamps." In April 2017, his works were selected for production and publication of phone cards, stamps, and commemorative philatelic items themed "Stay True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Pressing Ahead—Welcoming the 18th Party Congress."
