Li Wenji, pen name Yi Nong, professional painter.
Born in 1967 in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province; studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2004; in 2017, furthered studies at Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts in the specialized course "Sketching and Ink Transformation"; in 2019, completed the advanced research program at Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts in "Sketching and Creation".
Currently a member of the Heilongjiang Provincial Artists Association; Dean of Zhuoyi Painting Academy; painter at Beijing Jicuitang; specially invited painter at Qingdao Wei Bei Painting Academy; recommended painter by Shengshi Danqing; municipal-level advanced art worker.
Artistic Characteristics
His landscape paintings often feature grand compositions, bold layouts, and expansive perspectives. His snowscape landscapes carry a deep sense of nostalgia for his homeland. He possesses a private seal titled "Mo Ming Qi Miao," reflecting his passion and pursuit of ink and brushwork. His ink tones are transparent, and his compositional innovations and ingenious thinking demonstrate unique insights.
He firmly believes that the more national something is, the more universal it becomes; the more familiar the subject, the more intimate the connection. His works predominantly draw inspiration from his northeastern hometown—villages, grasses, small cottages, Korean pine trees, chimneys, farmlands, and more. He favors meticulous realism in technique while also embracing freehand expression to capture the emotional and aesthetic qualities of ink.
