Du Daqiang, male, Han ethnicity, born in the year Ding Wei, courtesy name Mingda, nicknamed "Du Tiezui," graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Guangxi Arts College in 1991; currently a member of the Guangxi Branch of the China Artists Association, a member of the China Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association, a Chinese ceramic calligraphy artist, a contracted painter and calligrapher of the Xizhi Painting and Calligraphy Newspaper, a standing director of the Yulin City Artists Association of Guangxi, a director of the Calligraphers Association, chairman of the Luochuan County Artists Association of Guangxi, and vice chairman of the Calligraphers Association; a national-level painting and calligraphy artist. His paintings and calligraphy works have won awards more than 80 times in national and regional painting and calligraphy competitions, and have received the highest honors over ten times. Endowed with exceptional intelligence, he has been passionate about painting, calligraphy, and poetry since childhood, persistently practicing for decades, relentlessly pursuing excellence, and continuously creating art on paper; in his quest to promote national heritage, dominate the art world, and attain the true essence of art, he studies and creates painting and calligraphy almost every night until 3 a.m.…… Owing to his extraordinary courage, broad-mindedness, far-sighted vision, and unique thinking, he has received guidance and instruction from renowned masters such as painters Huang Gesheng, Lei Wuwu, Zhang Dongfeng, Yue Qianshan, Han Jingwei, Wang Shaolun,…… and calligraphy masters Lü Jinguang, Fu ShaoWei, Liu Dehong, Zhang Yuxiang…… He has also extensively studied and practiced the masterpieces, calligraphic models, and techniques of ancient and modern artists both in China and abroad; thus, his artworks possess a distinctive style, rich in contemporary elements, profound in meaning, and imbued with timeless depth. Especially his watercolor paintings: characterized by unique techniques, vibrant colors, endless charm, and profound artistic conception—dreamlike and illusory, bridging past and present, conversing with ancient landscapes, engaging with light and shadow, interacting with mountains and rivers, and merging harmoniously with all things—transcending the mundane; evoking boundless reverie in viewers, allowing their spirits to wander freely among all things, refreshing their minds, invigorating their souls, and filling them with passionate fervor…… It is as if one has wandered for days through a desert, parched and starving, suddenly discovering a spring of sweet water, releasing all pent-up frustrations and pressures…… His calligraphy, under the guidance of these contemporary masters, has focused on studying the masterpieces of Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Zhang Xu, Huaisu, Yan Zhenqing, Sun Guoting, Zhao Mengfu, Chu Suiliang, Wen Zhengming, Wang Duo…… and after decades of diligent practice and deep contemplation, he has developed a calligraphic style that is graceful yet forceful, majestic and powerful, resolute as steel, flowing like clouds and water, ancient and elegant, thick and substantial, grand and magnificent……
Major awards: In 2011–2012, his painting works "Dao" and "Symphony of Life" won the highest prize—Gold Medal—in the Guangxi Yulin City Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition; in 2013, his painting won the First Prize (highest honor) in the Qingfeng Cup Painting and Calligraphy Competition; in 2014, his painting "Hong Yun" won the First Prize (highest honor) in the 5th National Xizhi Cup Painting and Calligraphy Competition; in 2015, his painting received an Excellent Award at the ASEAN International Youth Art Exhibition; from 2013 to 2018, his calligraphy works consecutively won the First Prize (highest honor) in the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th National Xizhi Cup Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Competitions; in 2013, his calligraphy was awarded the Special First Prize by the organizing committee of "Collection of Representative Works of Contemporary Chinese Masters" and was included in the publication; from July 2016 to July 2017, his calligraphy works consecutively won the First Prize (highest honor) in the 4th and 5th "Great Man's Song: Chinese Dream" Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Competition; in August 2017, he won the Gold Medal (highest honor) in the 7th Yanhuang Cup Contemporary Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Competition; in May 2016, his calligraphy won the First Prize in the Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition; in September 2016, his calligraphy won the First Prize in the "Clean China" National Anti-Corruption Painting and Calligraphy Competition, and also won the First Prize in the "Party Flag Flying High" National Painting and Calligraphy Competition in the same month; in April 2017, his calligraphy was awarded the Special First Prize by the editorial board of "Representative Works of Contemporary Chinese Cultural and Artistic Masters"; in November 2018, his calligraphy won the First Prize (highest honor) at the National Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy Creation Annual Exhibition; in January 2019, his calligraphy received an Excellent Award in the Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up; in May 2019, his painting and calligraphy works won the No. 1 prize—Special First Prize—in the "2019 China Painting and Calligraphy Iconic Figure" competition!
From 2015 to June 2019, he was honored by multiple national poetry, painting, and calligraphy competition committees and juries with titles including "Chinese Dream Cultural Elite," "Outstanding Contemporary Artist Promoting Traditional Chinese Culture," "2017 National Advanced Figure in Poetry, Painting, and Calligraphy," "Chinese New Era Cultural Master," "Cultural Inheritor of the New Era in China," and "Cultural Master of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China."
