Criticism of policies cannot properly handle criticism, because with fame and profit at stake, people lack the ability to listen to differing opinions; they either do not take pride in their own work or become arrogant and conceited. In fact, this tells us that in the field of art, no one's work can be perfect. Personal interests and knowledge always impose constraints, bringing both advantages and drawbacks. Even in art, less focus on fame and profit, and more detachment, humility, and magnanimity, along with less petty计较, will lead to a stable and composed mindset in writing. Ouyang Yunxiu said: “Do not seek to please people of your time; strive for fame in posterity, and be true to yourself.” Love calligraphy, delight in forgetting worries, and allow calligraphy to return to its authenticity. Regarding the writer as a form of progress and blessing: “Listening to others is light; believing others blindly is darkness.” Listen more and review often, promptly correct deviations, and only then can one avoid getting lost or going astray. Therefore, calligraphers must sincerely and genuinely embrace criticism from the heart.
