Born in Japan in 1994, she currently works in Tokyo and New York. She is one of the most renowned artists among the third generation of post-war Japanese contemporary artists. She studied at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in Germany and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China. Her rich international experiences and personal insights have deeply influenced her interest in themes of speech and communication. Jiang's works encompass a variety of media, including movement, video, and painting. Through these explorations, she offers a more humanized and international perspective.
Jiang Yue has received numerous honors for her exceptional creativity: named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list consecutively in 2021 and 2020; recognized as one of Artsy’s most popular artists in 2021; awarded the Second Prize in the 2022 East Asian Civilized City Competition hosted by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; honored as an Outstanding Artist by the Japan Art Association in 2020; nominated for the Japan Contemporary Art Foundation Award; selected by the Japan Art Association for an artist residency in New York; recipient of the Sophie Lin Foundation Asia Sovereign Art Award (2019); winner of the 16th Chiba Art Civilization New Talent Award (2018); and recipient of the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Award at the 17th Oriental World Art Exhibition (2017), among others.
