Duan Hongwen (Male, 1952), Art Name: (Fagu), Studio Name: (Wanxiang Pavilion), retired cadre of the Dingxi Engineering Section, Lanzhou Railway Bureau, with a college diploma. Member of the Dingxi City Artists Association and Member of the Dingxi City Federation of Literary and Art Circles. His calligraphy and painting works were included in the exhibition catalog and collected in the 2013 "Weishui Li Family Hometown" Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition; in 2015, they were included in the catalog and collected at the "Sino-Korean Calligraphy and Painting and Worldwide Chinese Overseas Associations" Friendship Exhibition in Beijing; also included in the catalog and collected in the 2015 "Development of Developing Countries: Joyful Spring" International Art Masterpieces Exhibition. In 2015, his work was exhibited in the "Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Chinese Anti-Japanese War and the World Anti-Fascist War" Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition and was included in the collection. On August 5, 2017, his work was published in the Gansu Farmers' Daily and was also collected. He is currently a member of the Gansu Province Calligraphers Association. The artist has been passionate about calligraphy and painting since childhood and has devoted over thirty years to the creation and research of bird-and-flower paintings. His freehand-style peonies exhibit myriad postures, graceful brushwork, and vivid expressions—unconstrained by convention, appealing to both refined and popular tastes, demonstrating solid artistic skills. His plum blossoms, battling frost and snow, fearlessly blooming in severe cold, embody a noble character deeply cherished by traditional Chinese literati, becoming a subject of admiration and collection among scholars and artists.
