Ge Shouping: Born in June 1952 in Pingchuan, Baiyin, Gansu, with the pen name Zhuangzhi and studio name Baoji Studio, originally from Zhongwei, Ningxia. In 1969, he went to the countryside for rural re-education; in 1972, he joined the army, and after discharge, worked in coal mining for over 30 years. He graduated in 1988 from the first calligraphy program at the China Correspondence University of Traditional Chinese Painting and Calligraphy. He is currently a member of the China Calligraphers Association, a member of the Gansu Provincial Calligraphers Association, Vice Chairman of the China Celebrity Art Association, and a National First-Class Calligrapher. His calligraphy follows tradition while pursuing innovation, characterized by powerful character structures and excellence in running and cursive scripts, displaying a distinct personal style and profound artistic foundation. Particularly remarkable is his ability to write from unconventional angles, which is considered exceptional. His works seek solidity through richness, stability through boldness, and consistency through variation. In 1995, his work was rated as national special grade at the China International Literary and Art Exposition hosted by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles; won second prize at the "Three Kingdoms Culture National Art Exhibition"; in 1996, received a bronze award at the Tokyo International Calligraphy Exhibition in Japan; won first prize at the national art exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions; in 1998, his work was selected for the International Art Year Exhibition in Korea; in 1999, he was invited to participate in the Kunming World Expo Fine Art Exhibition and won a gold medal. The same year, he participated in the National Folk Arts, Crafts and Calligraphy Exhibition (approved by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles), winning a special gold medal; at the International Year of Older Persons China Exhibition (approved by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles), he received the "Century Master Creation Award"; awarded third prize nationwide by the Ministry of Culture for the 60th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan; won a bronze medal at the national exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Long March of the Red Army; won a silver award at the 2nd "Zhonghua Cup" National Art Exhibition. His works were selected for inclusion in the Shanghai World Expo and collected by the organizers. His hundred-meter-long scroll won the National Art Gold Medal at the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. His works have been auctioned in Qingdao, Shenyang, Chongqing, and other places. In 2013, his works were featured in the 16th China Contemporary Masters Auction Special Session, attracting widespread attention from society and collectors. At the commemorative exhibition of the 120th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's birth, he was awarded a special prize; won the Wang Xizhi Award, an outstanding award at the National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, and first prize at the China Environmental Art Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. In 2017, he participated in the Ministry of Culture's "Walking the Belt and Road, Tasting the Ink Rhyme of China" National Art Talent Exhibition. His works have been included in over 50 major anthologies such as "A Century Classic – Complete Collection of Chinese Calligraphy", "Dictionary of Top 100 Chinese Calligraphers", and the Olympic-themed "Calligraphy Scroll" hosted by the Publicity Department of the Gansu Provincial Committee. His works have been prominently featured and specially reported in national journals such as "Chinese Art Masterpieces", "Art Celebrities Workshop", "China Youth Magazine", and "International Business Daily", as well as in publications like "China Correspondence University of Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper", "Gansu Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper", and "Baiyin Evening News". In 2000, he published "Famous Contemporary Chinese Calligrapher – Ge Shouping Calligraphy Collection". On the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return, the China Post published a personalized stamp album featuring his calligraphy works. Selected by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House in 2018 for the annual calendar of arts and calligraphy co-hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China Artists Association. In 1995, he visited Russia as part of a cultural exchange delegation. He was elected as a "Virtuous and Talented Artist" during a joint evaluation activity organized by the Chinese Academy of翰林Painting and Calligraphy Art, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China Artists Association, and received qualification certificates for artistic talent from the National Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China Artists Association. He was conferred the title of "Meritorious Figure in the Art World" and has received high praise and recognition from leaders and appraisal experts of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the China Artists Association, and the China Calligraphers Association.
