Ye Junbao, pen name Gu Zhou, is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Macao Chinese New Culture Magazine and chief calligrapher and painter of the Macao New Culture Research Association. He is also an art critic with the China Artists Association and a writer with the Writers Association. Formerly a disciple of Lingnan School painters Guan Qingshan, Guan Shanyue, and Huang Anren, he has participated in numerous exhibitions including the French Art Salon solo exhibition, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint painting and calligraphy exhibition, the painting and calligraphy exhibitions of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters Exhibition in Taiwan, the 7th National Legal System Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition, and the 16th Asian Games China Art Creation Competition, winning gold, silver, and bronze awards on multiple occasions. His meticulous traditional Chinese painting "The Heart Sutra of Prajna Paramita" was sold for 180,000 yuan at a Chinese art auction in 1993, with the entire sum donated to charitable causes. His poetry and couplets won the creation gold award at the 2014 Chinese Poetry and Couplets Competition, and he was honored as a "Distinguished Contemporary Poet" by the Chinese Poetry Association and the World Chinese Poetry Association. His novel "Blood Oath at Cunjin Bridge" received the Outstanding Work Award during the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. His television screenplays "Case of Building No. 7," "When Bananas Ripen," and "Son of the Sea" won second prize in the "Xiafei Cup," third prize and an excellence award in the "Jinjian Cup," jointly awarded by the National Television Arts Committee and the Ministry of Justice. He is currently the contemporary inheritor of the "Hundred-Character Chart" and "Thousand-Character Chart" of Chinese calligraphy art. He enjoys making friends through poetry, literature, painting, and calligraphy, and finds joy in discussing Zen, Yi (I Ching), Confucianism, and Daoism.
