Personal Profile
Wang Qingwei, ancestral home Zhejiang Ningbo, born in Hong Kong.
Graduated and later taught at Guangzhou Medical University; among the first recipients of the National Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award awarded by the Ministry of Education of China.
Began practicing calligraphy under his grandfather’s guidance in childhood, mastering all five script styles with particular proficiency in regular, running, and cursive scripts, and excelling in large-character inscriptions. His works have won awards in numerous domestic and international exhibitions and are collected by art museums, universities, organizations, and private collectors both at home and abroad. He received the Second Prize in the 3rd China Large-Character Calligraphy Exhibition, Third Place in the International Touring Exhibition of Masterpieces of Chinese Large-Character Calligraphy, and the Gold Prize in the China-Japan-Korea Calligraphy Exhibition; his works have been engraved and permanently collected by the Korean Stele Forest Museum on two occasions. In 2013, he was designated as a recommended artist for state gifts by the State Council of China.
Current Positions:
Vice President, Hong Kong Calligraphy Association; Standing Director, Hong Kong-Guangzhou Painting and Calligraphy Society; Director, Chinese Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association.
